NFTE Baltimore works with 850 Baltimore City students to provide one-of-a-kind entrepreneurship programs that inspire young people from low-income communities, to stay in school, recognize business opportunities, and plan for successful futures.
Too often, youth from low-income communities are disengaged from school and employment, and are unable to achieve financial stability as adults. Students do not receive fundamental skills or experience to be successful 21st century employees, and are not taught how to integrate skills, knowledge, and attitudes necessary to solve real-life problems. NFTE Baltimore believes that entrepreneurship education is the fundamental tool for creating an on-going cycle of learning and innovation.
NFTE believes that youth entrepreneurship education programs serve as a method to motivate and inspire confidence in a population of students whose positive character traits and natural aptitudes are unrecognized and underdeveloped. Funds from this project will support NFTE classrooms in Baltimore, by purchasing curriculum materials, teaching students the core skills behind creating and presenting a business plan, and providing coaches and mentors to help students learn from real entrepreneurs.
By working to keep at-risk students engaged in their school work, NFTE spurs its participants to graduate high school and dare to dream of a brighter future. Whether they pursue higher education, enter the workforce, or start their own business, NFTE instills an entrepreneurial mindset in young people so they can plan for success. Since opening its doors in 2002, NFTE Baltimore has reached nearly 10,000 students from low-income communities with entrepreneurship education programs.
