Thanks to your generous support, the Step Right Up! Program is underway and going strong at the Green School in Brooklyn. This year, the students wrote a play inspired by zombies and reality TV cooking competitions. Heart & Soul is an ensemble piece that allows each student actor a moment or two to shine. The committed student participants have been eagerly showing up every Monday and Thursday afternoon to write and rehearse the play with teaching artists Mary Meyer and Bonnie Pipkin. The Green School’s Step Team has been incorporated into the presentation and will open the final performance with a step routine.
There will be two final performances on May 14th. The first is an invited dress rehearsal for other students at the Green School. The second performance is at 5:30pm on May 14th and it’s open to friends and family. If you would like to attend this performance, please email us at learnmore@arts-for-all.org.
Though we did not reach our intended goal of $2,000 on Global Giving, we supplemented these funds with a grant from the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs, in partnership with the City Council and a generous donation from an individual donor.
Thank you so much for supporting this program and providing these students at the Green School a chance to explore their creativity and voices through drama.
