Help us deliver literacy and family engagement programs - books and materials in STEM (Science Technology Engineering Math) - to disadvantaged children at risk of academic failure in the United States.
Minority populations - particularly girls, Non-English speakers and the economically disadvantaged - are poorly represented in STEM fields. Studies show inequalities and gaps in STEM learning begin early in a child's life, making it difficult to catch up with their more advantaged peers. By introducing and reinforcing STEM concepts we can help turn this around through parent trainings, our unique RAR childrens book collection, extension activies and connections to local libraries.
This project will ensure 100 Kindergarten and 1st Grade students and their familes participate in Raising A Reader's validated STEM literacy program. Providing vital resources to classrooms while offering a means for parents to build their child's interest in STEM. Over the course of the program, children will be introduced to more than 100 books and special STEM-themed book collections, as well as STEM activities that parents and children can enjoy together to promote a love of learning.
By supporting this project you will help to provide a solid foundation of STEM and early literacy for children across the US that will result in more Economically Disadvantaged, Girls, English Language Learners and Minority Populations represented in STEM related fields in years to come.
