Avena's mother, Elise, knows how important school is, but in Haiti school isn't free, and Elise can't afford the fees. She has to choose between feeding her kids and sending them to school because she never got the education she needed to find a steady job. Thanks to donors like you, Avena's education is funded for this year, and we're now raising money to send her to the 7th grade in 2014. With your help, Avena will have the education she needs to build a future free from poverty.
School in Haiti is not free, and if a family cannot pay, their children simply do not attend. Lack of education locks these children in a cycle of poverty. Ensuring access to school not only improves children's lives, but strengthens Haitian communities in the long-term.
Avena has lived her whole life in poverty. Your donation will give Avena the education she needs to ensure she can support herself and find a route of to security. We'll use your donation to pay Avena's school fees, provide books, school supplies, and extra support if she needs it. The education she'll receive will be life changing.
Access to education for children from families who do not have the means to send their children to school means that those children will have the skills they need to find stable jobs and escape the poverty of their families.
