Some children desperately want to go to school. They are bright, dedicated and hard working. But, they don't have the means to pay for the supplies or fees they owe. We will provide 225 school-aged orphaned children with items needed to start school - notebooks, pencils, pens, erasers, and much more. Each backpack sent and delivered to a child allows them to start school even if they can't afford these items. A year of school fees is provided for 25 kids.
In some countries, children are expected to pay school fees (even if school is "free") and to purchase supplies. For orphans, this is impossible to do as they don't have jobs or the funds necessary to pay for all these items. These kids want an education, though, and they really want to learn. Many times, they study at night, with the aid of a candle - they are desperate to study. With no money to pay for the most basic of needs, though, their dreams are crushed.
25 orphaned children in Kenya, with no one to help pay their fees, will have their school fees paid for an entire year and they, along with 200 other children, will each receive school supplies in order to start school. This will help those who can't afford the fees and will aid those who are squeeking by with the fees, but need a bit of help with the supplies.
225 children will have the school supplies needed to carry them through a year of schooling, and 25 of those children will have their fees paid for a year. This will allow the children to stay in school, educating them. Without education, they remain stagnant in the poverty in which they currently find themselves. We trust that with an education they will work themselves out of this cycle and will be able to find work with which to sustain themselves and their families.
