By Annette Scarpitta | Co-Project Leader
The successful funding of this microproject to provide shoes and socks for the students in Kiliba, DR Congo, has happily coincided with the start-of-term distribution of school uniforms and school supplies. This is a joyous day not only for our students at the Elimu Bora School but also for their mothers, who have had to endure so much hardship in their lives. To receive acknowledgment in the form of these provisions means that their children are not stigmatized by virtue of their birth conditions but valued as worthy with potential to succeed. The opportunity to gain an education (through our main project, #8568) for these children gives them much-needed hope.
During distribution, students and/or parents select the gently used shoes that best fit them; all (striped) socks are new.
Thank you again. Please consider donating to our main project, either now or on Giving Tuesday, December 2:
