Thank you for your support!

MADRE along with our Iraqi sister organization OWFI operates a network of shelters in Iraq, providing secure transportation, refuge, food and clothing for women and children threatened with violence who are fleeing their homes. This past winter, Iraq experienced one of the coldest winters in recent history. As temperatures continued to plunge, OWFI reached out to us with an urgent request for blankets and heaters for the shelters. More often than not, women and children arrive at the shelters with no more than the clothes on their backs. They needed our help to stay warm. MADRE and OWFI were able provide heaters and blankets in four shelters, keeping women and their children warm this winter. Thank you for your support of this project!

Microproject Disclaimer

Every microproject is intended to use the donations it receives in accordance with its stated description; however, it is important to provide project leaders with the flexibility to maximize the potential benefit from the donations they receive. This means that your donation may be used as a part of the main project that supports this microproject, specifically Shelters for Women in Iraq and Afghanistan. In this event, the project leader is required to post an update to the microproject detailing the results and reasons behind this change.

If you or any other donor is unhappy with the way their funds have been used, he or she can reallocate their donation using the GlobalGiving guarantee.
