The Cambodian youth that EYC works with need to be proficient with technology if they hope to be able to gain employment that will provide growth opportunities. Sadly, many are left behind as there is pressure to take paid work rather than take resources from their family to continue with their education. Competency with computers is a prerequisite for many jobs, and the chance of promotion from their entry level position is contingent on key skills such as technology.
In today's society it is a necessity not only to be computer literate, but also to have advanced IT skills. Technology is advancing in almost all aspects of our lives and this project will help our students keep pace with their peers who can pay for computer classes.
Our team will provide high quality computer training to the students from April through December 2014, ensuring that they have a foundation of technology skills to build on.
Without computer proficiency students are left to take basic jobs, where they have a low salary and little chance of advancement. IT skills together with the English skills that EYC provides allow them to compete for professional jobs and have greater career potential.
