A new school year has begun in Afghanistan, and as promised, we’re writing to update you on the students who received the scholarships that you helped to fund! Nine young girls will be attending a private school in Herat province, thanks to your generosity. We'd like to give you a little information about each of the recipients.
Tahera is the eight-year-old daughter of a farmer who will be in second grade this year.
Samira is also eight and will also be in the second grade. Her father is a day laborer.
Maryem is a seven year old girl in the first grade. Her father is a farmer.
Lida is the nine year old daugher of a shoemaker and will be in the first grade this year.
Zohar is also in the first grade. She is seven and her father is a tailor.
Rahima and Malina are both twelve and will be in the third grade. Each girl's father is a farmer.
Rayhana is the daughter of a rugmaker. She is five and will be starting preschool.
The final recipient is Motahara. She is also five and will be entering preschool. Her father is a shopkeeper.
Above you can see the girls and their classmates who also received scholarships. In all, through GlobalGiving and other sources, we were able to provide 73 scholarships to students just like these to study at private schools in Afghanistan this school year! We’d like to thank you once again for supporting our efforts to provide a high quality education to as many students as possible. Thank you.
Thank you so much for your generous support!! The school year is currently in session in Afghanistan, and rather than give out a partial scholarship, Creating Hope International will work with our Afghan partners to select a deserving student to receive the scholarship you helped to fund for the school year when it begins March 2014. We will update you in April of 2014 with information about the student who receives this scholarship.
Again, thank you for your kind donation. This scholarship will allow one poor student to receive an education that they wouldn’t otherwise have access to. Your donation will help to change the course of one young Afghan’s life. Thank you.
