There is a high need of bringing back natural habitats to save bio diversity. Importantly, getting connected with Nature again is very important for survival of all living beings.
Young generations are going away from nature therefore kids and youth lose the connection with nature and becoming unaware of priceless resources of Mother Earth. They show a trend having allergies towards natural environment. People use unlimited amounts of pesticides; kidney diseases and other health issues are becoming more common. It's very hard to find bees and butterflies in the surroundings and invasive plants are invading walkways which were full of wild flowers before.
Therefore we will encourage them to develop and maintain a butterfly garden with their involvement. We will be providing all guidance, training and will provide breeding and feeding plants of butterfly garden to get them encouraged. Also, we will guide them to learn about biodiversity of the urban setup and will teach them the importance of maintaining a backyard organic garden for flowers, vegetables, fruits and herbs.
This project will help us to connect youth and kids with Nature again as many of our urban children are going away from Nature like any other developed country. Since Sri Lanka is getting developed very fast we need to tell them the negative impact of getting disconnected So this will help us to work with urban and grass root communities to be connected with Nature and to train grass root youth to be green leaders in the future.
