Tomasa is a member of the microcredit group in Chumanzana, Chichicastenago, Guatemala. Tomasa uses her loan as capital for her weaving business. She buys thread for the weaving with the loan money. When she finishes her weaving, she sells it. As she has a year to pay back the loan, only a part of her profit is needed to make the monthly payment. With the rest, she can buy more thread for another weaving and still have enough left to support the needs of her family for things like soap, cal, and sugar. It becomes a cycle of gain, breaking the cycle of poverty.
Tomasa says that the loan has been a help for her. It makes it possible for her to get ahead. With one loan, she can support her business for a whole year. It gives her the money in a lump sum to get started and her sales provide new capital and money to support her family.
She is happy with the opportunity the microcredit program is giving her. She and her family are receiving a great blessing. She thanks the Kateri Fund for this blessing, but it is you as a donor that is actually providing this benefit.
Everything is possible with a little help from a FRIEND!
