AODVC has been helping rescue battered American women and children overseas for fourteen years. The demand has grown exponentially. Unfortunately, our phone system is no longer able to handle the demand. With over 3500 calls coming in per year, and the addition of our Sexual Assault Support & Help For Americans Abroad Program, we desperately need to have a reliable, efficient phone system for our crisis center that operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Our crisis center operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Case managers and advocates receive over 3500 calls a year, spending hours on the crisis line, 866-USWOMEN. Our phone system is antiquated and needs to be replaced by new technology.
Our phone system is very limited. We need a new, robust system to handle the increasing call volume. We will be able to more effectively serve victims, ensure calls are not dropped, and have multiple advocates and case managers on the phone at the same time. This is vital to the safety and wellbeing of the victims we serve around the world.
The project serves 500 women per year empowering them to find alternatives to a life of violence so their children grow up in violence free homes with their self-esteem in tact with the hope of stopping the cycle of violence in future generations.
