Our partner hospital in Kilembe Mines, Uganda was flattened by a flash flood in May 2013. They have worked so hard to rebuild it, but some funds are still needed to finish up. This hospital cares for tens of thousands of people each year, including kids in our program, and it is so needed in this area of Uganda where medical care is often missing. Kilembe Mines Hospital had been a place of dignity and care for the sick in the region and it needs to run at full capacity as soon as possible.
Since Kilembe Mines Hospital was destroyed last year in a flash flood, it has been difficult for the staff of doctors and nurses to resume full duties, although they are sure trying! The hospital is the only one in the area and so many of the children in our programs go there for help...we want them and their families (and so many other people!) to have the care they need, in a fully functioning hospital.
We are hoping to help rebuild Kilembe Mines Hospital, which was destroyed by a flash flood in May 2013. The funds raised will help pay for: electrical wiring, plumbing (water installation, fixing toilets, sinks, septic tank, etc), painting of walls and the ceiling and organizing the compound.
The area of Kilembe Mines will once again have a fully functioning hospital when they are able to fix all that is needed. It is such a shame that so much was destroyed, but the people are working hard and are trying to fundraise in Uganda, too. The community got together and cleaned, organized and rebuilt what they could. Now, the finishing of the hospital will bring hope and care for many.
