McKenlee's family believes having a seizure-response dog for would be a lifesaver and bring some peace to them. It will also change the life of a darling young girl who deals with the seizures on on a regular basis. Seizure response dogs are a special type of service dog, specifically trained to help someone who has epilepsy or a seizure disorder.
This project will allow a little girl to be a little girl. A seizure-response dog will allow McKenlee the opportunity to do things that other girls her age do and will help keep her safe by being her constant companion. McKenlee will be able to sleep in her own room and give her more independence.
A service dog for for McKenlee will allow her family a little peace of mind knowing her new companion will be trained to keep her safe and provide her comfort.
This particular project will provide seizure-response dogs for people living with epilepsy, greatly increasing their chances of surviving life-threatening episodes that may arise. This project will also raise awareness about SUDEP to encourage further support of individuals living with epilepsy, their families, and their communities.
