Jessica is a sweet and studious girl that lives in Malambo, a small town in the northern region of Colombia. She was born without a leg due a shinbone defect and has been using a protheses since she was a a little girl, but she has outgrown her artificial leg and has been using crutches to move around. Jessica can no longer play with her friends and participate actively in school. With your help Mahavir Kmina will provide a new protheses so she can be independent and reach her full potencial
At 17 years old, Jessica wishes to continue her education more than anything else, however, since she outgrew her prosthetic leg she is being forced to move around in crutches. She has lost her confidence and is having trouble walking to school everyday. She is no longer able to play sports and integrate with her friends, this is affecting her independence, self-worth and healthy development.
The prosthesis we want to give her will radically improve her life, it will be a solution to the impediment that her crutches generate. Thanks to Mahavir Kmina, Jessica will have the opportunity to walk and play again, Allowing her to finish school and give her the independence to fully develop as a teenager and take advantage of all the social and economic opportunities to improve her and her family's life.
Makavir Kmina provides prostheses to 250 amputees per year. This project will provide in a one-year period, prostheses to 20 children and youth between 1 and 25 years old who have suffered lower limb amputation allowing them to become independent in their daily life activities. This is important because they will have the opportunity to return to school, college or work, thus improving their living conditions and those of the people around them.
