Mobile Literacy Class Beginning Soon

Thank you for supporting our project to provide the Afghan Institute of Learning with the funds it needs to enroll one girl in AIL’s innovative mobile literacy program. AIL now has the funds that it needs to offer one class of 30 girls the chance to become literate through this innovative new program. This class will start in approximately two months, and we will keep you posted on the progress of the class as we are able. AIL is very excited to be able to offer this new class and cannot wait to have the funds to offer the class in more of it’s Learning Centers.

Using Texting to Increase Literacy in Afghanistan
AIL uses cell phones and texting in its literacy program to accelerate the learning of 60 illiterate young Afghan women. Typically, students complete 3 levels of literacy class in 5 months, a feat which normally takes 18 months. AIL is looking to expand this successful program from 2 to 10 classes in different areas of Afghanistan, as well as fund the training of more teachers in how to use cell phones as a teaching tool. project reportread updates from the field
