Gracie had no idea how violent her husband would become when they moved to Brazil. Now, she is afraid and wants to get Noah back home to the safety of the United States. Her husband slaps and shakes Noah. He has threatened to kill Gracie if she tries to leave. Without any money or resources of her own, she can't get to the airport or buy airline tickets. Gracie has desperately reached out to us for help.
Alone, unable to speak the local language, isolated and abused, American women and their children in foreign countries face tremendous obstacles trying to flee home to the USA. When they do they find themselves homeless and penniless. By helping Gracie, she and Noah will be able to escape and get back home. Gracie has an uncle she and Noah can stay with once she is safely back to the USA.
Gracie can live with her uncle back in the USA with Noah. They will be safe and can begin a new life away from the violence before Noah gets any older. Getting children away from an abusive parent as young as possible minimizes the psychological, emotional and physical scars of childhood abuse.
The project serves 500 women per year empowering them to find alternatives to a life of violence so their children grow up in violence free homes with their self-esteem in tact with the hope of stopping the cycle of violence in future generations.
