Carlos is hardworking and loving 21-year-old young man from Buenaventura, Valle, a busy town in the Colombian pacific coast. Carlos lost his leg in a bicycle accident on his way to work 2 years ago. Back then he was a newlywed with a baby girl on the way. Since the accident Carlos takes care of his baby as best he can on his crutches, while his wife goes to work. With his new leg he will be able to use his hands to care for his daughter and find work to give her and his wife better life.
Carlos is a young father who lost his leg on a terrible biking accident. While going to work one day in his bike he was run out of the road by a motorcycle, he fell and lost his leg. Carlos had just been married and was expecting a baby daughter. Without his leg, he lost his job and his wife had to find work to take care of their family. Since the accident Carlos stays home and takes care of his daughter helping around the house as best he can because he need his hands to move around.
With your help Mahavir Kmina will provide Carlos with a new leg. A prostheses that will allow him to use his hands while taking care of his daughter and eventually find a job. Without his crutches he will be able to walk and carry his baby around, run and play after her,and ultimately find a job so he can give her and his wife a better life and better opportunities. His new prostheses will also allow Carlos to feel more productive and increase his self-esteem and self-worth.
Makavir Kmina provides prostheses to 250 amputees per year. This project will provide in a one-year period, prostheses to 20 children and youth between 1 and 25 years old who have suffered lower limb amputation allowing them to become independent in their daily life activities. This is important because they will have the opportunity to return to school, college or work, thus improving their living conditions and those of the people around them.
