Meet Angel, the amazing and charismatic 7 year-old from San Vicente de Chucuri in the mountanous region of Santander, who at 2 months old lost his leg in a botch medical intervention.This proyect will give Angel a new leg so his dream of playing soccer, climbing trees and going to school can come true.
Angel is a energetic and loving first grader who lost his leg while receiving poor medical attention. He was born with two healthy legs but negligent medical treatement when he was 8 months old resulted on an amputation. Angel has never had a prostheses before, and has always used crutches and wants to fulfil his dream of playing soccer with his school friends, ride a bike and climb a tree for the first time.
Angel is growing up, and not having a leg is begining to affect his confidence and self-esteem. A new leg will allow Angel to run and play like his peer and begin to build his confidence and sense of independece. Not having to use his crutches anymore will allow him to use his hands again and both his legs to fullfil his dreams of playing soccer and run and play!
Makavir Kmina provides prostheses to 250 amputees per year. This project will provide in a one-year period, prostheses to 20 children and youth between 1 and 25 years old who have suffered lower limb amputation allowing them to become independent in their daily life activities. This is important because they will have the opportunity to return to school, college or work, thus improving their living conditions and those of the people around them.
