This project will provide a year of English Education for Amina. Amina has always struggled to find a job and support her family because she lacks vocational skills. Amina wants to develop the skills she needs to find dignified, living wage employment - but she can't afford to pay for her own education. That's why she needs donors like you to support her!
More than two thirds of Haitian adults lack formal employment and more than 50% of the population lives on less than $1.25 a day. Despite high unemployment, there is actually a shortage of skilled labour in Port au Prince. English speakers can find work in hotels, restaurants, and offices, yet there are virtually no free English schools. Most Haitians, including Amina, cannot afford to attend these schools. Without the means to develop their skills, many are left trapped in poverty.
By ensuring that Amina can continue studying English for free at the English in Mind Institute, you can help him develop the skills he needs to find gainful employment.
Your donations will give Amina the means to support herself and her family into the future. This will let her escape poverty for good.
