Hannah is a special needs child, tragically, Hannah was also abused by her father in Singapore. Hannah's mother Erica called us and after several months of planning we were able to get Hannah and Erica back home to the USA and into a shelter. Erica has the opportunity to get a one bedroom apartment for them in January but needs an additional $400 to move in. Erica has already lined up special counseling services for Hannah who can't understand why "daddy hurt me".
American women and children flee domestic violence from foreign countries and come back with nothing but the clothes on their back. They have to completely rebuild their lives from the ground up with little to no chance of support from the abuser. Erica has additional obstacles to face as Hannah is a special needs child and is having a hard time living in shelter. Getting in their own apartment is critical for Hannah to feel safe.
Erica will be able to get Hannah out of the shelter and re-establish their lives safe from abuse in their own apartment. Hannah can then feel safe and begin to heal.
The project serves 500 women per year plus their children empowering them to find alternatives to a life of violence so their children grow up in violence free homes with their self-esteem in tact with the hope of stopping the cycle of violence in future generations.
