Thank you for your support for our project, Launch 40 Haitian Youth Clean Energy Entrepreneurs.

Unfortunately we did not raise enough funds, and the project has been retired. We appreciate your support and want you to know that your donation will still go towards training clean energy entrepreneurs in Haiti. We will work to encourage youth entrepreneurs to take part.

We are about to roll out a training program with the goal of training 260 clean energy entrepreneurs across Haiti with an innovative set of sales and marketing materials developed by behavioral change firm 17 Triggers. These materials will focus on energy literacy- helping end-users understand the dangers of using kerosene and candles for lighting and inefficient stoves for cooking and showing them the financial, environmental and health benefits of clean energy products like solar lights and efficient cook stoves. Trainings will also include transferable skills in basic marketing and sales, which our entrepreneurs can use in future businesses or improve their current businesses if they are integrating clean energy products into their existing businesses.

During training, each entrepreneur will receive a toolkit and certificate (see below for an overview of the items in each toolkit). The cost of each kit is $100. We expect these trainings to triple sales for our current entrepreneurs, not only providing a viable income for the entrepreneurs themselves but also improving the energy situation of tens of thousands of end-users.

The economic benefits of using clean energy products are huge. Solar lighting products eliminate the need for dirty kerosene and candles, which need to be purchased again and again. The pay back period on the products our entrepreneurs sell averages 4 months, meaning that not only do these products pay for themselves but help end-users continue saving money by not paying for inefficient energy sources, breaking the cycle of energy poverty.

Your donation will go directly towards the cost of training these entrepreneurs. To follow these trainings as we go, please check in to our blog. You can also find out more about the products our entrepreneurs will be selling here
