Nandalal is almost 90 and he's a survivor of three Nepal earthquakes. He lived through both recent earthquakes and also one in 1938! Nandalal has no surviving relatives so he lives with an adopted family in Pyrae. Nandalal's family's stores of rice and lentils were buried in the earthquake rubble. What they've retrieved has been contaminated by toxic dust. This means that Nandalal's family are going hungry. With your help, we'll provide food aid to help keep Nandalal's family healthy and happy.
Nepal has been devastated by two earthquakes in less than three weeks. Survivors have lost loved ones as well as their homes and supplies of food. It is estimated that over 1.4 million people, including Nandalal, are going hungry and in need of food aid. This perpetuates their suffering and could lead to malnutrition and poor health.
Your donations will be used to provide food aid, like rice and lentils, for Nandalal, his family, and other families in the community of Pyrae. 43 families in Pyrae are in need of urgent food aid until at least September. This project will provide two weeks emergency food aid for one half of these individuals.
By providing nutritious, filling food we'll help ease the suffering of Nandalal and his family. We'll also help them avoid malnutrition and poor health in the future. Kids receiving food aid won't go to school hungry which means they'll be able to focus on learning for the future. Receiving food aid will also remind Nandalal's family that there is someone who cares.
