Aba (23 years) wants to go back to her apprenticeship in a tailor shop in Tole. She stopped training due to lack of resources. She did not have any economic support because her husband abandoned her a few months after Mendi was born. Mendi is her son (3) and he has been clearly disabled since birth. We want to pay for her training and afterwards help her start her own tailoring shop, we hope help can be ready by the time she finishes the training. We will also support Mendi's special assistance.
Aba's mother is the only one bringing income to the household, she works in a tea plantation. The small house is shared by grandmother, her mother, Aba, her small sister(7) and Mendi. Mendi was born with paralysis on her legs and has not been able to talk so far, the diagnosis is still not clear. She has most of the skills required and just needs a few more months of training, but does not have anything close to the capital required afterwards to open a tailoring shop.
We will help her start again with the training and provide for the means for her to start her own business afterwards. For Mendi we will allocate money to have proper diagnosis and appropriate treatment, from time to time he was receiving massages to stimulate his extremities, those are very expensive and it would not be sustainable to ask for that money. We will use part of the money for Aba (who is willing and eager to do it) to learn how to do those massages and get the appropriate materials.
You will be helping create a new business with a hard working and resilient women, Aba, that just needs a little capital push to transform herself from vulnerability to empowerment. You will be taking care of a disabled child, Mendi, that has a right to a healthy and fulfilling existence and you will be contributing to his mental development. You will make an impact in a whole vulnerable family and hopefully make a small impact in Tole village too if the business succeeds.
