This project will provide the funds we need to provide Lovely with a year of education. Lovely's mother had mental health problems. After the earthquake, her mental state deteriorated, and she was unable to care for Lovely, so she brought her to the orphanage. Lovely is 12, but she didn't start school until she arrived at HTDC. Without an education, Lovely's future is bleak. But with an education, that picture changes.
As an orphan, Lovely is among the most vulnerable of Haitian children. There are no free schools in Port au Prince available, so the orphanage must employ its own teachers and run its own school. Lack of education locks kids like Lovely into a cycle of poverty. Ensuring access to school not only improves children's lives, but strengthens Haitian communities in the long-term.
Lovely has lived her whole life in poverty. She needs a quality education to find a prosperous future. Your donations will give her that education and set her on the road to a brighter tomorrow.
Access to education will give Lovely the skills she needs to find a stable job and escape poverty when she's older.
