Warm greetings
Activity Update: So far this year we have together provided scholarships to an additional 10 students. See - photo of some of the children and their parents – taken at the award ceremony in Freetown. The new shipment of books and school supplies has arrived in Freetown. In the next update, we will provide additional information and share photos etc.
Please take a moment to watch the brief “thank you” video – linked below that made my day. With passion and fluency, in this special video message, Thomasia one of the scholarship beneficiaries extends thanks and gratitude on behalf of the other beneficiaries to you our GlobalGiving donors.
On one hand, it’s disheartening to be reminded (in this video) that even today, there are a lot of children out of school. Fortunately, on the other hand, it’s heart-warming to be reminded that together we are shaping the lives of these children and making a difference. As Thomasia states towards the end of the video – “Your sponsorship has made it possible for our parents to send and keep us in school. We are grateful for your support. We thank you GlobalGiving, Develop Africa and other donors for giving us hope and a future”.
These words from Thomasia made my day! The realization that my involvement is “giving hope” and “helping to provide a future” warmed by heart. Thomasia’s words will remain with me and continue to encourage me to do so much more.
I hope her words made your day brighter too. I hope your heart is warmed too as you listen to the video and read this update. It’s truly amazing how together we can help ensure that children are able to complete their education. I trust also that you would be inspired to do more – however you can. Remember every bit counts.
Without your support all this would not have been possible. Develop Africa is truly grateful for your past and on-going support. Thanks again for your support. Your feedback and suggestions on what we can do additional to expand our impact are so very welcome.
We wish to invite you to help spread the word about the joint impact we are making. Please invite / encourage your friends, family members, co-workers etc. to get involved. You can email this link to them or post this on Facebook etc. Together we can do even more and make this world a better place…
Cordially
Sylvester

International Women's Day (IWD) is marked on March 8 every year. It is a major day of global celebration for the economic, political and social achievements of women. A quote online says: "There is no Mother's Day without them. There is no Father's Day without them. There is no Children's Day without them. There will be no life without them. Yes, today is the day to celebrate Women!" As we celebrate the achievements of women worldwide, we are reminded that there are many more budding women – young girls who are earnestly seeking the opportunity to rise up and take their place on the world stage and in history. They are great women "in the making". Your donations are helping enhance the education of these young girls. You are helping them complete their education. Your financial influence is shaping the lives of these girls – who may possibly invent something radically life-changing, become the President of a nation, find the cure for cancer – who knows? I also wanted to take the opportunity to share with you some additional photos that I just received in the past week from the FAWE school - an all-girls school in Freetown Sierra Leone. Students from this school are directly benefiting from the funds that you have donated and continue to donate through GlobalGiving. As you think over the influence of women in your life - on this International Women’s Day, join us in investing into the future of these young girls. Please invite your friends and family to donate towards this project in your honor or in honor of a special woman, mother in your life. Once again – thanks for your on-going support. It means more to us and the beneficiaries than you will ever realize. We welcome your feedback and comments. Best wishes as you celebrate the special women in your life. Sylvester

The calendar year in Cameroon at is off to a great start. The students are doing well and settled into school.
The school provides food for its students as this helps them learn effectively. Since some children did not take breakfast before coming to school, a proper lunch is part of the program. Apart from a radically different educational approach, CAPEC also offers a number of innovative additional programs to facilitate its pupils in learning and personal development. Among these are the availability of the Corner Room, special learning days, the yearly Christmas celebration, and the summer holiday program.
From the funds raised through Globalgiving and other sponsors the school will be constructing a classroom this year. We deeply appreciate your donations that is helping to make this happen.
Per Collette Bekaku, the Founder of CAPEC, this project is changing lives in the region by proving - through education - a path out of poverty.
We welcome your continued support and feedback. Thanks for joining us in changing lives.
