Dear friends and supporters
It's a pleasure once again to share a project update - this time in the form of a video. It certainly helps to see and also hear about the impact we are making together. Sometimes, we may be disengaged or not fully grasp the impact of our intervention - providing nets. The video helped me realize again how essential nets are to life and health in Sierra Leone.
In the video, Joshua conveys gratitude on behalf of the community (in Wellington, Freetown, Sierra Leone) and Door of Hope for the provision of insecticide-treated bed nets. He explains that as a result of the provision of hundreds of nets, the children, women and men are no longer under threat from malaria. Thanks to your generosity and that of Develop Africa donors, many lives are now malaria-free.

The linked WHO report confirms that "Mosquito nets have been key to bringing down the death toll from the disease". Global targets for combating the disease are under threat as the rate of increase in funding is leveling off. Given this decline in global support, it's all the more important that we increase our efforts to combat this disease. Let's continue to ensure that many more families are able to live in good health - free from malaria. The nets we provide together will help them live longer by making sure that they are malaria-free. With these nets the beneficiaries can focus their energies and resources on other important issues.
We welcome your on-going support that enables the provision of many more nets. Through your special large gift today or by signing up for a recurring donation, we will together do so much more. Thanks for helping to maintain funding for the provision of nets - setting people free from the threat of Malaria!

Dear friends and supporters:
It's a joy to once again share a project update on how we are together impacting the lives of girls and helping to further their education. We are providing a vital lifeline - strengthening precious lives that would otherwise drop out of school - with potential and greatness unrealized. What we are doing is simple, but so very profound! This warms my heart and I hope it warms your heart too!
This report includes the story of Agnes. This following brief on Agnes typifies that of many of the girls that we are together helping. These girls are gems, future leaders, with great potential and purpose. However, they are faced with challenges that are beyond the ability of their families - living below the poverty line and at risk.
Agnes is an orphan who hails from a very poor home. Agnes’ parents died when Agnes was a baby. She has been living with her grandparents who are old, poor and unable to generate income. They used to live in a slum by the sea. Recently a flood washed away all their possession and her uncle died in the process. A few months later Agnes lost her blind grandfather due to the shock from the flood. Agnes and her grandmother are presently displaced and are staying with a family friend. Agnes loves school and would like to be a lawyer.
Though her family socio-economic situation is quite a challenge, yet Agnes is guaranteed continued education through your on-going support. Thank you for preventing Agnes from dropping out of school. Your timely support has indeed given Agnes a hope and a future. Through your support Agnes and many more girls are continuing their education. Thanks so very much.
We welcome your on-going support that enables us to reach and impact the lives of many more girls. Through your special large gift today or by signing up for a recurring donation, we wll together do so much more. Thanks for your support!

Over the past years we have had to rent computer labs each time that we offered training. The equipment available in the rental facilities has been inconsistent and imperfect relative to our purposes. Also the room layouts have not been ideal. With this in mind, we determined that the best solution would be to house our own facilities. This offers several advantages including the ability to have more frequent sessions and also to have the equipment – both hardware and software that better suited our purposes.
I am delighted to report that we have made significant progress towards this. The computer lab will be housed in the almost-completed Develop Africa Empowerment and Training Institute. The structure of the room that will be housing the computer lab is ready. We have also been able to purchase the first computer and the photos included in this report show Dolly, one of the youths using the computer – provided through the GlobalGiving / Give for Youth Partnership.
The youths and young adults and the community in general have been observing the progress excitedly and are eager to see it completed and to start using the new computer lab. This lab will help us basic computer training free for hundreds of people.
What we finally need to do now is to fully furnish the room – in terms of 15 computer desks and chairs, 15 computers, a podium, document scanner, overhead projector and printer. We are hoping to complete this by the end of the year and estimate that this project will take around $20,000 to complete.
Strike a chord? Does this resonate with you in any way? Would you be interested in being a part of making this happen in any way? We would love to hear from you and be so grateful if you could join us in this worthy venture. Together we will help to prepare hundreds of people in the community for success in our computer-aided society.
How you can help:
Thanks so much for your support and best of wishes
