Mission

The Consortium Congo Development (CCD) is a nonprofit organization in the Democratic Republic of Congo (D.R. Congo). CCD is also a coalition of local nonprofit and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) in the D.R. Congo. Mission The CCD's mission is to promote integrated and sustainable development in the D.R. Congo. To achieve this mission, the CCD develops and implements various local high impact projects. Additionally, the CCD brings together a coherent alliance of small, grass roots organizations that share expertise, experience, knowledge, and resources. Background CCD was founded by a group of young Congolese in the US and in the D.R. Congo eager to contribute their technical knowledge, network, and skills to improve the lives of Congolese people. CCD uses a mix of diverse skills and effective methods from the private, NGO and public sectors to effectively contribute to the development of the region at the grassroots level by building the capacity of local NGOs. The ultimate goal is to contribute to the establishment of a peaceful, democratic, and prosperous Congo, one development project at a time, one advocacy campaign at a time, one school at time, etc. Because the D.R. Congo is coming out of a war that lasted more than a decade, the reconstruction work ahead is daunting: the Congolese people need, among other things:infrastructures, healthcare, food security, innovative development solutions, a functioning financial sector. Work Methodology -Local Participation: The CCD believes that projects work when local populations are involved -Empowering Women: The CCD prioritizes women's involvement in projects, and educates local populations and local governments against sexual discrimination.
