Meet Kate Foundation

The objective of Meet Kate is to support needy children and their families in the area of Gomoa and Agona district (Ghana) in their basic needs and rights. Among them are education, housing, food and fun. We also strive to achieve two subgoals. First, we want the families and community but especially the parents of needy children to take and keep responsibility for the welfare of their children. Meet Kate does not want to be a quick fix, we want to help figure out what the best solution is for the child, through thorough research and in consultation with the parents. We believe parents should play a big part in this process. Second, Meet Kate makes sure that at the start of every project, ...

Mission

The objective of Meet Kate is to support needy children and their families in the area of Gomoa and Agona district (Ghana) in their basic needs and rights. Among them are education, housing, food and fun. We also strive to achieve two subgoals. First, we want the families and community but especially the parents of needy children to take and keep responsibility for the welfare of their children. Meet Kate does not want to be a quick fix, we want to help figure out what the best solution is for the child, through thorough research and in consultation with the parents. We believe parents should play a big part in this process. Second, Meet Kate makes sure that at the start of every project, there are enough opportunities for the project to become sustainable and self-sufficient. You might think of farming land, energy and water saving undertakings, but also a financial contribution by parents or caretakers (if possible), to help support their child. Meet Kate wants her projects to be fully financed from within Ghana, within 5 years. Vision: Meet Kate want to support needy children (ages 0 to 18), in the Central Region of Ghana, in their basic needs (food, housing, education, health care). Our main focus is on education for all children. Mission: Meet Kate's projects are intended to provide children in the Central Region of Ghana with education, health care, food and water, fun and good education. Many Ghanaian children are suffering under poor conditions after the death of a family member or unemployment in the family. Meet Kate sits down with the families and looks at the best possibilities in the (near) future. Meet Kate believes that education gives children a prospect to a better life, therefore every project of Meet Kate somehow incorporates education.

Programs

The Meet Kate Foundation is both a Dutch NGO and a Ghanaian NGO. The Dutch NGO focuses on the fundraising, while the Ghanaian NGO executes the projects in Ghana. Some of the questions below are answered from the point of view of the Dutch NGO. We are happy to provide you extra information on our Ghanaian NGO at a later stage (employment etc) Meet Kate supports projects in and around the midsized town Agona Swedru and the village of Ekwamkrom in the Central Region of Ghana. These projects are managed by local initiators. Meet Kate supports them financially with the intention to help each project become financially independent in time. The projects target young Ghanaians and help them build a better future for themselves. They give these children shelter and schooling but also love and an opportunity to have fun. Meet Kate has three projects: The Meet Kate Children's Home, a daycare & primary school and a Scholarship program. Since 2007, we also have a partnership with FrankEve's vocational training school for girls. We hope to support many more of these beautiful initiatives along the way. Moreover, Meet Kate has different agricultural projects to make her projects become sustainable and self-reliant. Read here more about our projects: http://www.meetkate.org/projects
