Programs

Boxgirls organization uses sports of boxing as a core tool for positive social change in the community .The programme include 1) Computer Education :-Boxgirls organization organizes session for the beneficiaries to learn computer skills .during school holidays the young girls are able to attend computer classes and be taught. Many of the young girls and women have been able to attain the skills and share it with their peers in school and at home .During weekdays the computer in available for the community to use. 2) Community Outreach :-This are different community activities that are done in the community and all the stakeholder are involved they include ,community clean up ,mother’s boxing fun days , tree planting , etc.The community outreach has created platform for advocacy in regard to different issues affecting young girls and women in the disadvantaged community .The community outreach has seen parents and different stakeholders working together in using sports for community development 3) Sport :-Boxgirls organization organizes boxing competition annually .The tournaments has given young girls confidence and many are participating in boxing sports .The tournaments always have different themes .The young girls and women actively involve in the sport to gain self defense mechanism and gain self confidence . 4) School Outreach and Zonal Programme.:- These programmes are conducted in Nairobi where young girls age 7-18yrs meet and are able to involve in sports messaging ,computer lessons ,edutainment and lifeskills .The school outreach and Zonal programme are coordinated on a weekly basis . 5) Leadership and Mentoring Education project :- The leadership and mentoring Education project activities involve scholarships,Uwazi Session ( lifeskills Education) ,Counseling sessions, etc .This activities have helped the young girls gain confidence , and also able to present themselves .Many of the young girls have been retained in schools through the scholarship funds .Boxgirls has paid school fess to almost 100 young girls in the programme from 2010-2011.The activities have enabled the young girls acquire leadership skills and be more involved in changing their communities .
