Final Project Report for Amphibious Housing Project

Dear supporters of CO2 Bambu’s amphibious housing project:

Thanks to your generous contributions, along with the outstanding dedication and support from our team, we have made some significant progress on our project over the past few months. With that said, your funds will be used to support the research & development phase of our project. Key project areas include:

- We established several key relationships for project development, including partners for both the research & development stage and pilot project of 20 amphibious houses. These relationships include key players in disaster response such as Hilti Foundation and the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC). Potential project partners include the Inter-American Development Bank, as well as Swiss Re Foundation.

- We were selected as a semester long case study as part of the Global Social Enterprise Club (GSE) at Yale School of Management and Yale School of Forestry & Environmental Studies. A group of 5 students from the club has been working with us throughout the spring semester and visited Nicaragua and our offices the week of March 4th, 2013. They are assisting us with a market study to help scale our amphibious housing efforts.

- We have continued to refine the existing model of our amphibious houses, guided by an experienced team of architects in amphibious construction, according to local conditions and in coordination with our team of engineers. We have also researched an additional urban site for a potential pilot project in Tipitapa, Nicaragua.

We are grateful to have continued support for our Amphibious Housing project. As our project progresses, we are open to and in need of additional funding in order to successfully execute the R&D and pilot project phase for Amphibious Housing. We hope to secure enough funding in the next quarter to begin R&D construction and engage key players in pilot project planning.

We count on your support and please do not hesitate to spread the word among your networks. Together we can change the lives of hundreds of families affected by flooding every year in Nicaragua.

September 2012

Dear Donor,

Thank you very much for your generous donation to our project on Global Giving.  We are proud to announce that we have raised a sufficient amount of funds to bring the shipment of a stand alone boxing ring, and two more boxes full of boxing equipment to Nicaragua!  The equipment, which has been stored in Miami, will be payed for and shipped to Managua by next week.  The boxes will be received by SD4I and FENIBOXA in Managua and then brought to Muelle De Los Bueyes, the hometown of Nicaragua's Olympic hero Osmar Bravo.  This equipment will greatly impact over 100 youth from Muelle De Los Bueyes, by allowing them to create a boxing center for the community, in which kids can go to learn how to box, as well as learn valuable life skills, such as responsibility, work ethic and resiliency.

Again ,thank you very much.

Dear GlobalGiving friends,

We are very excited of what your partnership with rural Guatemalan families is doing!!

So far, we have installed 24 filters and 15 stoves with your support.

8 filters and 10 stoves have gone to Jocotán, as we reported last time.  Once the demand of filters and stoves for this village was covered, we started working with another community, Pastores.

Pastores is in the highlands of Guatemala.  It is a village located by a river.  During the rainy season, the dirty waters mix with the clean water, creating huge health hazards.  Water comes out of faucets totally dirty.

With your support, we have been able to install 16 filters and 5 stoves in this village, in alliance with each one of you who has supported the project!!  Having access to clean water is key for families!!!  In Guatemala, contaminated water is the number one cause of children´s death.   By partnering with these families, you are becoming part of creating a new story!!!

5 women were also able to buy stoves in Pasotres in partnership with you, keeping smoke out of their homes!!

We are very excited of how Wakami Villages are coming to life, one stove and one filter at a time!!

We want to thank you for being part of this initiative!!!  We only have $400 more to go for this first phase!!  We hope we can raise this money, and take more families into healthier living!!!

Thanks again,

Maria Pacheco
