Final Project Report

Shipment of Boxing Ring
Shipment of Boxing Ring

Dear Donor,

We would like to thank all of our funders for helping us bring a Boxing ring from Miami down to Managua, NIcaragua. While we are currently waiting for it to pass through customs, once it does it will be sent immediately to Muelle De Los Bueyes, where we will construct it and allow Nicaragua's Olympic hero, Osmar Bravo, to begin working with the youth of his town.  We are hoping that this is only the beginning for this project, and that once we have gained momentum in Muelle, we will expand this project to other areas of Nicaragua.
This ring has the potenial to have a great impact on the youth of Muelle De Los Bueyes, by offering them a fun activity that promotes great life skills, such as responsibility, hard work, and resilience.   This would not have been possible without the efforts of our donors through GlobalGiving. We appreciate all your support. Thank you for your amazing help!

Final Project Report

Dear GlobalGiving Friends,

We want to thank you for your support in partnering with Communities of the Earth to provide rural Guatemalan families with filters and stoves. With your support, we were able to partner with two rural groups in the villages of Jocotan (Chiquimula), in the Eastern Part of Guatemala and Pastores (Sacatepequez), in the highlands of Guatemala. A total of 28 water filters and 16 stoves, were bought with the GlobalGiving project,  in partnership with the rural families.  9 more filters will be delivered to the village of Pastores during the month of May 2013, finishing this first GlobalGiving Project.

Filters and stoves are part of the Wakami Village Program, which allows rural communities to learn and see first hand about products and services that transform their lives, improving especially the health of their families.  Through the partnership with you and GlobalGiving, the Wakami Village Program has become stronger in these communities.  Other organizations have also joined, partnering for solar panels and organic gardens.  One partnership at a time, one home at a time, rural women are starting to transform their lives and families.

What we are seeing at Communities of the Earth is that when rural women have a source of income, and co-invest in products and services that improve their lives, real change begins to happen, starting with their children.  Malnutrition decreases, education increases, communities prosper!!!

Thank you for joining us in this partnership with rural Guatemalan women!!!  We also want to thank Agora Partnerships and GlobalGiving, for providing the connection between you and the families of Guatemala!!

Agora
Agora's 2013 Accelerator Program Class

Dear Donor,

Thank you very much for your support to Accelerate Women Now. Your contribution has allowed two women impact entrepreneurs from Latin America to participate in Agora's Accelerator Program. Thirty-six entrepreneurs representing 25 companies from Mexico to Chile arrived in Managua, Nicaragua Monday, January 28 for the start of Agora Partnerships’ Entrepreneur Retreat, a four-day kick-off to Agora’s Impact Acceletrator. The phrase Impact Accelerator refers to a program that invests and leverages social, human, and financial capital into entrepreneurs working intentionally to create a more just, prosperous, and healthy world. Agora’s Impact Accelerator provides strategic consulting services to its entrepreneurs, prepares them for investment, and connects them to impact investors around the globe. The ultimate goal of the Accelerator is to help companies scale businesses that are creating positive impact. These aren’t your average entrepreneurs. They’re cut from different fabric than “traditional entrepreneurship.” They are solving critical social, economic, and environmental problems in their communities through their businesses. From producing high-quality housewares from recycled materials using bottom-of-the-pyramid artisans in Mexico to growing sustainable cacao in the mountains of Belize, to leveraging user’s social networks to promote environmentally friendly behavior through an app in Uruguay, these entrepreneurs are collectively redefining the term entrepreneurship. Your donation allowed two women entrepreners, Gabriela Flores and Sasha de Beausset, to participate in the Accelerator 2013 Class. Agora’s Class of 2013 contains 27 companies from 13 countries, 9 industries, and 10 areas of impact. The class, as a whole, represents over $7 million in sales, more than 475 employees, and seeks approximately $20 million in investment. One particular point of interest revolves around the heavy participation of women in this year’s class; 44% of the participating companies are owned or co-owned by women. Together, we are building a community of entrepreneurs who are working to build businesses that create positive change in the world
