Programs

CHILDLINE India Foundation oversees and administers the CHILDLINE 1098 service. CHILDLINE 1098 is a 24x7, national, emergency, free phone and outreach service for children in distress. When a child or concerned adult dials 1098, it sets off a chain of child protection. This chain involves the local level civil society organizations, the police, the juvenile justice system, and health, education and labour departments, and does not stop till the child is rehabilitated with family or safe within institutional care. Children we reach out to include Street children, Child addicts, Abused children, Mentally ill children, Child laborers, HIV/AIDS infected children, Differently-abled children, Child victims of the flesh trade, Children in institutions, Child political refugees, Children in conflict with the law, Children whose families are in crisis and Children affected by conflict and disaster. CHILDLINE has responded to over 19 million calls since its inception in 1996. CHILDLINE catalyses everybody directly or indirectly charged with protecting children's rights. With a network involving 450 NGO partners and allied systems the service extends across 183 cities/districts in 26 states and UT's of India, making the scope of action through CHILDLINE immense. CHILDLINE conducts programmes for awareness and advocacy in the space of child rights and protection in India.
