Pitch In For Baseball

Pitch In For Baseball helps underserved children grow emotionally, socially and physically through the games of baseball and softball. We leverage relationships with key stakeholders in the industry, like Major League Baseball and Little League International to expand the impact of our organization's efforts.

Gloves

With your support, Pitch In For Baseball was able to provide 45 gloves to kids in ...

Since we launched our Gloves for All project on the Global Giving site, we have completed 50 projects, including 13 international benefitting nearly 8,000 children.  Within those projects, we gave away a total of nearly 2,000 gloves.

One project of particular note was in partnership with the Cambodia Baseball Federation.  Baseball in Cambodia is just beginning really and there is an absence of government support, a lack of funding to support the growth of youth baseball, and equipment is not available for purchase.  Together, we were able to provide enough equipment to start and/or expand seven baseball programs for children ages 10-15 in 6 Cambodian schools.

The Cambodia Baseball Federation conducts outreach to children and families in rural communities to offer a fun, recreational opportunity while promoting healthy lifestyles.  In their first year of outreach, more than 100 children signed up and the Cambodia Baseball Federation was unable to meet the demand/interest.  Interest in baseball continues to grow with kids ages 10-15 and schools to add to their curriculum.  Pitch In For Baseball was able to provide the equipment and enough gloves to fully support 7 teams.

Baseball in Pakistan

Baseball was introduced in Pakistan in 1992.  Cricket is still the country's dominant sport, yet baseball is growing in popularity amongst children.  However, baseball equipment is not available for purchase in Pakistan and it is expensive to ship there.  Pitch In For Baseball and Pakistan would like to partner to get the necessary equipment to children interested in playing.

To date, we have raised nearly $200 for the project.  In addition, we are working with and exploring delivery opportunities with IBAF (International Baseball Federation), a long-time PIFB partner.  We are optimistic that we will be able to deliver equipment to Pakistan this year. We look forward to the opportunity to assist in their growth efforts.

Thank you for your support and we will continue to update you on our progress.

Youth Baseball in Uganda

In Uganda, the Little League program is part of the International School, a unique school that links academics and sports.  Children who attend the International School receive a quality education with special emphasis on math and science while also participating in a broad range of sports, including baseball.  However, baseball equipment is not available for purchase in Africa, which requires the International School to be creative to support their baseball dreams.

Pitch In For Baseball and Uganda Little League have been partnering since 2009 to get equipment to the International School.  Over the past three years, we have shipped more than 10,000 pieces of equipment (both new and used), totaling an estimated $160,000 value.

In late January 2015, the Uganda Little League received nearly $10,000 worth of equipment, which supported 6 new teams.  This month, Uganda Little League will begin their 2014 Little League World Series journey with the Uganda National Tournaments, which will determine the Uganda representatives for the Europe/Africa Little League Regional Tournaments held in Kutno, Poland.  The winners from there will then be the representatives for the Little League World Series.

Pitch In For Baseball makes one very large donation to Uganda Little League each year.  We not only provide the majority of the equipment (both new and used) but also serve as a central entity for accepting donations earmarked for Uganda from other businesses, individuals and communities.

Thank you for helping to grow youth baseball in Uganda!
