An Exciting Project for 2011...................

Kisimenyi 2011
Kisimenyi 2011

A new year brings a new school and a new promise for Kids4Kenya and African Promise

In March, work will start work on rebuilding Kisimenyi Primary School - the sixth school - for the immediate benefit of the 550 children it serves now and many hundreds more for years to come.

On a visit to the school early in 2010, at the invitation of the head teacher Amon Mwandoe (the head at Jora at the time of my very first project there in 2006/07), Charles Coldman, the founder of African Promise, was left shocked by what he saw. More recently, passing through the village, a young pupil shouted: "When are you coming to our school?". We have answered the plea of that boy, the school and the wider village community with a promise to help them rebuild their school.

It will be an extensive and ambitious project but one that, with your help, we can make a reality and we are appealing to you and the rest of our community of supporters to help raise $60,000 in 2011 to go towards funding the project, and our work in our original five schools.

Kids4Kenya has been hard at work in the fall raising funds through local initiatives in Baltimore, MD for the benefit of African Promise and it's continuing build out of Primary Schools in the Kasigau region.

In September we held a Car Wash that raised over $1,100 in just a few hours of hard work and soap! Check out the video ! On Saturday 6th September, we were Raking Leaves in the neighborhood and raised over $450 in no time.

We are also proud to have two new sponsor on board; Teuten Risk Consulting and Live Now!

African Promise goes from strength to strength

The Kids!
The Kids!

African Promise is hard at work on the ground in Kenya and is about to start work on its sixth location at Kisimenyi. Check out the link to the the Summer 2010 update video. It gives a brief but powerful insight into what we've been up to over the last 12 months in Kenya and some plans for the next 12.

Kids4Kenya and African Promise are still in need of your help as we expand our reach and the children that benefit from the efforts of the program.

Get involved, be a part of the initiative and help make the lives and prospects of so many innocent and deserving children be what they can, and should, be.
