Sonic Peacemakers is currently in production on a collaboration between some very big names in the music business for a song in tribute to Malala Yousufzai and The Children of Pakistan. The collaboration will feature Rahat Fateh Ali Khan and several other notable artists such as Robbie Wykoff (The Singer for Roger Waters' Band) which will be announced just before the song's release.
The song, inspired by the bravery and elegance of Malala and so many children just like her who just want a chance to be educated and have a better life, will shine a spotlight on the children of Pakistan and other nations where so many children suffer from poverty, war and extremism, in hopes of creating more numerous and effective international avenues of support so these kids will have a better chance to realize their potential and help create a better future for themselves, their families, their nations and all Humanity. We plan to complete production this summer and release the song in early September, as well as produce a video for the song and a behind the scenes film documenting the creative process behind the song, which was written by Sonic Peacemakers co-founder Lanny Cordola.
Sonic Peacemakers has had a very productive start in 2013. Pakistani singing star Sanam Marvi has joined us as an artist ambassador to collaborate on several events, concerts, recordings and activities to promote the beautiful children of Pakistan to the World and help raise funds for their health, education and well being. We are planning fundraising concerts in Pakistan, Dubai and The US, and GEO has agreed to film a pilot with Sanam for a television show featuring our musical and philanthropic collaborations with major Pakistani recording artists. If the pilot is approved for a full television series, each episode of the program will feature Sonic Peacemakers and a Pakistani recording artist writing, recording, interacting and traveling with each other while performing in large cities as well as remote villages. Sonic Peacemakers co-founder Lanny Cordola will be joining singing superstar Atif Aslam onstage at the O2 area in London, as well as dates in other UK cities and Lanny is also planning an event for Sonic Peacemakers in Los Angeles in late April or early May. Interflow Communications and Eckova Productions has begun the editing work on the Sonic Peacemakers documentary film, utilizing footage taken in the last few years of concerts and events, interviews and studio sessions, visits to remote places like Swat and Sindh, and behind the scenes insights into Todd Shea and Lanny Cordola’s magical mystical musical journey through Pakistan. On March 10 Sonic Peacemakers had its biggest concert success to date, producing a show with Saad Sultan (producer of hits by Quratualin Balouch, Jal Band and Farhan Saeed), Fawad Khan (singer and star of Hum TV’s Humsafar Drama), Famed Punjabi Comedian Amanat Chan, Sanam Marvi (who took the Desi Music Industry by storm after her acclaimed work with Rahat Fateh Ali Khan and electrifying appearance on Coke Studio) and Sir Abrar Ul Haq, a true superstar in both music and Humanitarian works. The concert hall was packed with over 900 people, including chief guest Mrs. Yasmeen Rehman, a distinguished Member of the National Assembly. Awards for Service to Humanity were given to Dr. Javed Akram, Dr. Mehmood Shaukat and Dr. Amina Rehman and Allama Iqbal Medical College for donating medicines to CDRS and other fine organizations for the benefit of the disaster affected citizens in both emergency and long term healthcare missions.See the concert photos here: http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.529206777102079.1073741825.300942176595208&type=1The concert was a success because of our collaboration with the artists, who gave their time and talents free of charge, The administration of Allama Iqbal Medical College, who provided their Hall, generator and security free of charge, The students of Allama Iqbal Medical College, who helped sell the tickets, and our media partners City 42 TV and Radio One 91 FM, who provided a huge media blitz of advertising and promotion completely free of charge.
