Notes of Gratitude

Toppenish Middle School, Toppenish WA
Toppenish Middle School, Toppenish WA

“Thank you for everything you have given to us here at TMS. It takes kindhearted people to do this. Now we have become a better band so thank you very much. Best and kindest thing anyone has done that I have seen.”
- Marcos, student at Toppenish Middle School

Here is a letter from the principal at Toppenish Middle School:

Music is a powerful force in children's lives and we believe that playing music in school can not only improve their education, but give them lasting memories, useful skills and enhanced confidence that will last their entire lives.

This school year we put instruments into 86 schools across the country. And remember that each instrument we give to a school remains there for many years, allowing generations of youngsters to benefit.

We thank our donors for making stories like this possible. We look forward to sharing our Annual Impact Report with you in the next month. Stay tuned!

Giving Back for the Gold

Alexia with 20 donated instruments for MHOF
Alexia with 20 donated instruments for MHOF

High school senior and Girl Scout Alexia gave us a heads up to expect four boxes containing 20 instruments at our office. We celebrate when any donor sends us their cherished instrument, but 20?

This New Jersey teen was working towards her Gold Award and chose the Mr. Holland's Opus Foundation as her charity project. Working with her dad in the family music store, Alexia repaired and refurbished many of the donated instruments and she even sent along histories of the instruments.

“Music has been such a large part of my life and I am thankful for this opportunity to share music with others, since I know I would not be the person I am today without the opportunities I had in music education. Music provides me an outlet for stress and emotion and has taught me discipline and self-worth; I wish to share all of these lessons and more with younger band students through cooperation with your amazing program.”

Dozens of students will benefit from Alexia’s hard work for years to come!

Here are some things you can do now to support music education and the work of The Mr. Holland's Opus Foundation!

The time for music is now

“Music is my life. I can confidently say that. My high school band isn’t the biggest, but we’re definitely one of the most dedicated. Our lives and futures are greatly impacted every day by music and the wonderful people who take the time to teach us what music really is. Throughout my life music has kept me going forward towards a brighter tomorrow."
Christina, student at Hug High School, Reno NV

Music has the power to transform a child’s life.

So far this school year we have put instruments into 39 schools across the country and with your help, we expect to help another 40 schools before the school year ends.

Please make your year-end gift by midnight on December 31 and help bring the joy of music into a child’s life.

We have a lot of work left to do to keep music alive and free in our schools. Thanks for being on the team and we wish you a great new year!
