Camino Verde is a 501-c-3 non-profit organization dedicated to: * Protecting and understanding biodiversity in the Peruvian Amazon. * Protecting indigenous rights, autonomy, and wisdom. * Spreading sustainable ways of life and encouraging fair, sustainable development. Our mission is to plant trees and encourage others to do the same.
Living Seed Bank- planting as many different tree species as possible, focusing on endangered and over-exploited species of the Peruvian Amazon, with 5000 trees representing 200 species to date. Basic Agroforestry- helping local subsistence farmers to shift from slash and burn to tree-based agroforestry systems. Conservation- working to preserve over 1000 acres of primary rainforest. Indigenous Wisdom- documenting medicinal plant knowledge of native elders.
