Christmas in Spring!

Happy recipient of new warm, winter boots!
Happy recipient of new warm, winter boots!

Each year before Christmas, Children's Emergency Relief International (CERI) travels to Eastern Europe with teams of U.S. Volunteers who outfit children who are orphaned and deprived with brand new warm, winter boots, socks, hats, and scarves. This year will be no different. In December, teams will depart for Moldova to distribute boots among the poorest villages throughout the country.

Raising money to buy boots is a year-long endeavor, and your generosity makes all the difference in the world. Would you believe that gifts for Kids 'n Boots are already coming in?  It's the dedication of donors like you who make the work CERI does day-after-day, year-after-year possible. Thank you again for your year-round support of CERI's worthwhile Kids 'n Boots project!

Child Sponsorship Program, Now in Mexico!

It's official! Children's Emergency Relief International (CERI) has launched a new child sponsorship program in Mexico! Known as the "Child Relief and Support Program" (CRSP), CERI now reaches school-age children in impoverished communities in Veracruz. The CRSP program meets the physical needs of children who are deprived with food, clothing, and shelter. The program also provides support for educational, social, and spiritual development.

Thanks to your gifts on GlobalGiving, children are able to be enrolled in the CRSP program before they have a child sponsor. We are so grateful to you for your generous support, as this type of work takes a community. On behalf of the children CERI serves every single day across the globe, thank you for being a part of our GlobalGiving community!

Eliminate Hunger Through Microenterprise

CERI Hunger Initiative
CERI Hunger Initiative

"Give a man a fish; he'll eat for a day. Teach a man to fish, and he'll eat for a lifetime." The philosophy of Children's Emergency Relief International is to bring hope and healing to children and their families through sustainable projects. The success of CERI's micro-enterprise program in Sri Lanka reinforces this philosophy.

For decades, Sri Lanka has been plagued by war and natural disasters causing extreme poverty and, by extension, severe hunger. In response to this plight, CERI initiated a micro-enterprise program in order to help families pull themselves out of the death-grip of poverty. The program began by extending small business loans to CERI foster families. After much success, CERI expanded the program to include more that just CERI foster families.

Not only has CERI's micro-enterprise program offered families a reprieve from dire hunger - a condition to which many have become too accustomed - but families have also realized the potential to establish family savings for use to help other families in need or pay for children's educations.

Thank you for the support you have offered to this program. We would not be where we are without your help.
