No more excuses! Maria wants to learn more

Maria: mother and student
Maria: mother and student

With your help, single mothers from low income communities can access technology and high quality education. After students, mothers are the second group attending the RIA or Learning and Innovation Network. Here's Marías story:

"My name is Maria Felix Ocampo Noverón. I'm 38 years old.

We started the course three weeks ago with teacher Esmeralda. The truth is I learn something new every day, in each class. My life has changed since I started the course, I am excited and want to learn more. I started coming because a friend told me she was studying computing and she told me where. I didn't know it was a Foundation and I was amazed because my excuse was always that I didn't have any money, but I had never looked for a place like the RIA.

I like the RIA: everyone can access courses to learn new skills, how to find a job, how to do homework or just to update with new technologies. The school is very nice, their facilities are modern and it has a good vibe.

My daughter also comes to a Computer course.
The teacher is excellent, because she's very patient.

I would like to know more about computers and then study English. I hope I can start soon".

Help mothers like María change their lives and teach their children to leave excuses behind and work for a brighter future. Thank you for your donation.

Studying for a better future

Luis Alberto is learning how to use a computer. Now he can do his homework at the RIA Center and is learning how to use technology to acomplish his dreams.

He writes to us:

"I really like learning new things and also learning more things (...) The teacher doesn't let us eat junk food and he's a good teacher".

Thanks for helping us give scholarships to children like Luis Alberto. Now he enjoys studying and he's making new friends! Gifts from donors like you provide the support needed to continue our mission of bridging the digital divide in Mexico by providing low-income communities with quality educational opportunities and access to digital technologies.

Meet Don Fernando! a 70 year old user that loves learning about new technologies

Dear Donor,

We are writing to express our thanks for your recent donation to the Fundacion Proacceso's projects. Gifts from donors like you provide the support we need to continue our mission of bridging the digital divide in Mexico by providing low-income communities with quality educational opportunities and access to digital technologies.

Meet Don! a 70 year old user that loves learning about new technologies, computers and the internet! he even took a course on how to use social networks. Don now feels empowered because he now knows how to use a computer. Besides, feeling part of this personal and digital community has made him feel younger!  https://vimeo.com/78684269

When Don thought that using a computer was not for someone his age, he discovered the Learning and Innovation Network (Red de Innovación y Aprendizaje or RIA), and now he has completed three computing courses. He also realized that being at the RIA Center is a great opportunity to share his skills with his granddaughter and other people from the community: https://vimeo.com/78684269 Thank you GlobalGiving! Thank you dear doner!

Because of your participation, we were able to sponsor RIA users fom all ages, like Don, to learn English, computing, Social Media and other courses. Giving people in marginalized Mexican communities access to technology will allow them to become full-fledged digital citizens with a voice and skills that will allow them to compete in an increasingly globalized world.

Again we thank you for your generosity, your support has and will continue to play a key role in our success.

Sincerely,

Sofia Camacho
