The mission of The Dougy Center is to provide support in a safe place where children, teens, young adults and their families grieving a death can share their experiences.
The Dougy Center serves 400 children, teens and young adults, and 250 adult
family members each month with programs in Portland, Canby and Hillsboro.
Our 58 open-ended peer support groups are designed around age, type of death,
and the connection to the person who died. Parent/adult caregiver groups run at
the same time as the children's support groups.
The Dougy Center does not charge families for our services, and we receive no
government support. The program is supported entirely by private donations
from individuals, businesses, and foundations, as well as from sales of our
guidebooks and professional training fees. The Dougy Center is a 501(c)3
non-profit organization, and donations to The Dougy Center are tax-deductible.
