Dear Green Rhinos Supporter,
The Green Rhinos wish you a happy and peaceful New Year!
We are thrilled to let you know that there are more than 1300 Green Rhinos in the Sundarbans and Kolkata.
In addition to your support we have received a grant from Rufford Small Grants to create 800 more Green Rhinos in Delhi, Kolkata and Siliguri. A Tata Group company has also given us a grant to create 200 Green Rhinos among poor and ultra-poor girl students in the Sundarbans.
We would like to share with you a video made by a student of Santa Clara University, Genna Magnan, who interned with us last summer. View at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WkL94Zy_uUs&list=UU_M6R-CMS-KTAzI0KSPzhlA to know about how the Green Rhinos have been impacted by the Program.
We still have a long way to go to reach our target of creating 5,000 Green Rhinos by 31 December 2016. We look forward to your continued support.
Dear Kind Supporter,
We are overjoyed to let you know that in the eve of the New Year 100 girl students will receive solar lamps. A few days into the New Year, 100 more girl students will receive solar lamps.
The students will be from local schools in the Kultali community development block, one of the six most backward blocks in the Sundarbans.
Till now 1400 individual students in the Sundarbans have received solar lamps. This gift of light has changed their lives forever!
In this festive season we look forward to your continued support in changing the lives of many more young people.
With the warmest wishes for a peaceful and happy New Year!
We are pleased to let you know that 100 more Green Rhinos were created in the remote L-Plot island in the Sundarbans on 8th August 2014. There are now more than 1200 Green Rhinos doing their bit and inspiring others to keep our planet green and clean! Your support has made this possible.
The projects the Green Rhinos are presently conducting are tree plantation in the Sundarbans and efforts to control noise pollution in Kolkata. Diwali, the festival of lights, is approaching. During this time people burst loud crackers which cause noise pollution. The Green Rhinos in Kolkata are educating their school mates on the harmful effects of noise pollution and how to celebrate Diwali in a responsible and peaceful manner.
Our aim is to create 5,000 Green Rhinos in India by 31 December 2016. Do continue to support us in our shared quest to create a better planet!
