HER Fund was set up on March 8, 2004 by a group of women activists in honour of International Women's Day. Our main objective is to raise funds and give grants to support work by women, with women and for women in Hong Kong. Next to this, an important aspect of our work is to raise awareness of women's position and rights in Hong Kong. Our mission is mobilizing resources and investing in empowering women and girls to create change in communities for gender equality.
HER Fund envisions a society that will secure and promote the human rights for all women, without discrimination on any grounds, and in all walks of life. We value the wisdom and capacity of women that they themselves are best able to determine their own needs and propose solutions for lasting social changes. We advance women and girls' rights through fundraising, grant-making and philanthropic education. We give financial grants to the neglected and less-funded women's groups and projects in the community. Our target beneficiaries are groups of women who have been collectively disadvantaged because of their social positions. These marginalized women are systematically declined of their rights, opportunities and resources that are normally available to members of society and key to social integration. They include: single mothers homemakers low income women workers, new immigrant women migrants women asylum seekers sex workers lesbians Also, we put a lot of effort on promoting gender equality on young women. Our grant priority will be given to young women-led or capacity building lead to young women-led projects.
