To provide opportunities for youth in corrections to learn patience, responsibility and compassion for all life through working with shelter dogs.
We match unwanted dogs with incarcerated youth that works in preparing both dog and youth for a new beginning in being productive members of their communities when released. POOCH ensures the proper dog training for our dogs by the youth with a team of professionals. All dogs must pass their CGC in order to be eligible for a new home. The youth not only are required as a part of our program guideline to train the dogs, but to learn to care for and maintain the dogs and interact with prospective adopters. We also assist the youth in transition in preparing them to go out into their community and become productive members once their incarceration period is over.
