Thank you Message from Executive Director

Dear all our esteemed supporters,

Through your generous contributions, and other partners, we have now been able to help stop early marriages for young girls in Baragoi in Samburu area in Kenya who are enrolled in special evening classes.

These shepherd girls are now dreaming to improve their won lives and uplift the community. This year, one girl was able get a scholarship from one of our supporters to join high school after succesfully completing 8th grade. We have to have more of the girls continue to benefit from this special project.

We are also engaging local community groups with a view to using the shepherd girls benefitting from our project as ambassadours to encourage parents to allow more girls to go to school.

Once again thank you and please be our messenger and tell others about what we are doing to empower poor rural communities in Africa.

Thank you.

Recently, Evans Wadongo, accompanied by local leaders, visited 3 learning centers for shepherd classes in Marallal and Baragoi areas. During the visit, they assesed the progress being made to increase the number of girls, and also discussed the need to set up income generating projects to make the centers more sustainable. After the visit, the  Program Director will be contacting like minded organizations to establish a partnership, that can help achieve sustainability in the special evenign class centers.  The team also established that insecurity is still a major hindrance for girls attending the school. Mr. Wadongo met with the area Senator to seek support in providing police officers to patrol the schools to make the children feel safer.

Thank you From the 50 Girls of Samburu

Shepherd student with the solar lamp

Since we launched this project here on global giving, the response has been good; this has enabled us to raise US$ 1,051. This amount was used as follows:

  1. US$ 520 was used to make 20 solar lamps for the 20 shepherd girls, who attend night classes at Loltulelei shepherd center.
  2. US$ 500 was used to purchase two text books for each of the 50 girls at the center.

The solar lamps are helping the girls to study while at the center and at the same time while at home in their Manyattas(huts).

We hope with your increased support, they will be able to achieve their goals of excelling in school and becoming responsible members of the society.

With education, the girls will be able to improve the socio economic structures in their community, mitigate poverty and preserve their good cultures.

We therefore say thank you very much from Sustainable Development For All-Kenya and from Loltulelei Shepherd center. We greatly achieve all this because of your continued support. Thank you.
