Mitrata students receive their certificates
Mitrata students receive their certificates

The students at the Mitrata Nepal music program proudly display their Certificates of Achievement presented by our in-country program administrators, Ishor and Suljan, on behalf of the Playing For Change Foundation. The students received the certificates in recognition for their hard work and dedication to their music classes. Everyone at the Playing For Change Foundation is amazed and excited to see both the progress the children have made and their unwavering commitment to learn music.

"The certificates are not just the paper, but a source of power, influence, and an effective way to promote and give encouragement to the kids. I personally love the way they're presented and the kids were really excited and honored to have the certificate." - Suljan, Program Administrator, Nepal.  "The certificates have the power to help encourage our students and build on their musical skills. I am really proud of our kids! " - Ishor, Program Administrator, Nepal

Welcome to the Ntonga Saxophone Class

Saxophone class at Ntonga
Saxophone class at Ntonga

Saxophone is one of the most popular classes at the Ntonga Music School, and with good reason. The classes are led by accomplished musician and music teacher, John Ntshibilikwana. The energy and life John brings to this instrument attract large numbers of youth who are eager to learn, and the patient and understanding nature of his teaching keeps them coming back. He has helped many Ntonga students to excel and master the complex intricacies of the sax, which is a great accomplishment for an instrument held in high regard in the jazz-influenced culture of South African music.

Every Monday, in the township of Gugulethu, South Africa you'll hear dedication in the form of notes and rhythms coming from the Ntonga Music School. It's a sound not to be missed. Everyone at the Playing For Change Foundation is so proud of their incredible progress and hard work.

Percussion Teacher, Seydou Kone
Percussion Teacher, Seydou Kone

Meet Seydou Koné, percussion teacher at l'Ecole de Musique de Kirina. Seydou Koné is a master djembé player who lives in a village located outside of Kirina. He assists Mahamadou Diabaté with the percussion classes, and leads the percussion band that plays for each dance class at the school. Twice a week, Seydou rides 9 miles on his bike to teach at the school and share his knowledge with our students. His enthusiastic and creative teaching style is a joy to the students, as attendance is through the roof - very few students miss their djembé class. He is a valuable and exceptional member of both the program team in Kirina, Mali and the PFC family.
