International Disaster Volunteers (IDV)

At IDV we believe that to provide meaningful relief and reconstruction assistance to disaster affected communities around the world we have to do more than reconstruct buildings. We need to understand and address the factors that made a community vulnerable to the disaster in the first place. Our work will be organised with these factors in mind so we can effect change that far outlives our presence.

A Secure Future for Bodlina

This project will provide part of the funding needed to invest a small business at the HTDC orphanage. When we've raised $500 per child, the orphanage will be able to buy a bus and make a monthly profit. That profit will provide for Bodlina. Bodlina abandoned after her father was killed in a motorcycle accident and her mother died of an illness. She's a lovely, energetic girl who loves to play with other kids. He's learning to be a teacher with the help of fellow teacher Lynda, and we hope to hire him as a full teacher in the 2014 school year.
