Namwera Aids Coordinating Committee (NACC) is a not for profit registered local NGO established on the 13th November 1996, as a community response to fight aids pandemic. Our Vision is creating health and self reliant community. Our mission is to prevent further transmission of HIV and mitigate its impact in the rural and under served communities. Our goal is to mobilize the communities to identify and address problems caused by HIV and poverty.

Programs

NACC is implementing a number of programs such as 1. Early Childhood Development (ECD) targeting households caring for zero to eight years old children to help the children to grow well and reach their potentials. 2. Education care and support- we identify barriers to education in terms of enrollment, attendance, performance, and competition, the assessments are done by volunteers identified the community members within the community. the assessment results is communicated to all the stakeholders including parents, local leaders, education authorities and the children. the community members come together and identify the means to address the barriers. 3. Child Protection- to prevent cases of child abuses, exploitation, trafficking, sexual harassment, child labour, property grabbing, early and forced marriages, gender based violence. provide paralegal services and referrals to abused women and children. 4. Household economic strengthening- helping the vulnerable households with skills on business management, livestock management, provide livestock (three goats) per household that are passed on to the equally needy households after reproducing, linking households to village savings and loans within the community, linking them to other financial service institutions like Opportunity International Bank of Malawi, 5. HIV Prevention- promoting positive behavior change through one on one and/or small group discussions where issues of abstinence, being faithful, condom use are discussed. the messages are developed to suit the target group like 10-14 years which mainly aimed at delaying their sexual debut, 15 years plus and married, the message is aimed at reinforcing being faithful, Most at risk populations like sex workers, vendors, fishermen, uniformed service, the message reducing the number of sexual partners and correct and persistent condom use. HIV testing and counseling, PMTCT, Home based care and prevention with positives.
