Successful Completion

Sewing Machines at Future Victory School
Sewing Machines at Future Victory School

Dear Friends and Supporters,

We have successfully completed our Pads for Schoolgirls Project at Future Victory School and will closing this project here on GlobalGiving.  Our deep Gratitude to each of you for your generous contributions that launched Pads for Schoolgirls Program of Humanity Healing International.

As we have worked to create this new paradigm for vocational training in developing countries, we have learned a tremendous amount on how to create a self-perpetuating vocational program that not only solves an immediate problem (helping keep girls in school by supplying them with the feminine hygiene pads they need), teaches a marketable skill (seamstress and tailoring skills) and, most importantly, teaches the value of selfless service (the girls donating pad kits they have made to other girls in need).  We have realized that several smaller programs impacts a greater number of girls than one larger program.

Building on this knowledge, we will be announcing two new Pads for Schoolgirls projects shortly here on GlobalGiving: a second in Uganda and one in Pakistan.  We hope you will continue to partner with us in these new endeavors.

May the Blessing you have shared with others return to you a hundredfold.

Much Metta,

Christopher Buck, CEO

Vocational Training Project Successly Completed

Vocational Training Program - Alice
Vocational Training Program - Alice

Dear Friends and Sponsors,

I am writing today to thank each of you for your generous support and to announce that we have successfully concluded our project, Vocational Training for Displaced Ugandan Children (#3729).  This was our first project on GlobalGiving and we are extremely Grateful for your Compassion and support in fully funding this project.

Both facets of this project, the Model Farm and Livestock Management have grown and developed to the point that they are self-sustainable.  The cassava production on the model farm has become a showcase for the region and has received recognition from national Ugandan leaders.  Many families in the region have been gifted with high-yield cuttings to augment their food security.  The goat and cow herds have grown to the point where, in addition to supplying all the dairy requirements of the 600+ children at Future Victory School, there is surplus livestock to sell or barter for other needs.  But the most important part of the programs is the personal development of the children involved.  They have not only learned real-world skills to augment their formal education which will stand them in good stead in the future, but through an active outreach to aid families in the region, these children have instilled an understanding of selfless service.  As many of the children at Future Victory School are orphaned, we believe this is the best way to integrate a sense of community and reweave them back into the fabric of society.

Thank you!

Please visit our other project in Uganda which aims to create vocational training modules for girls teaching seamstress skills, helps keep young women in schools through the creation of reusable sanitary pads and, most importantly, teaches selfless service through the sharing of pads the girls create with other girls to help them stay in school.  You can find it at: Keep 1000 Ugandan Girls in School (#8789), http://www.globalgiving.org/projects/pads-for-schoolgirls.  We hope you will join us there.

With Gratitude,
Christopher Buck

GlobalGiving Hikes to Future Victory School

After a both amazing and terrifying boda boda ride, Britt Lake GlobalGiving's Director of Programs, and I made it to Future Victory School Pre-Primary School.

We were warmly welcomed by the teachers, project staff and students. The school's choir welcomed us with a beautiful song, such talent! Students are settling into their new school year, it was a pleasure seeing their excitement for a new term. You can see some of their smiling faces in the photos below.

Thank you for supporting projects, which make it possible for kids around the globe to get an education! Here's to another great school year!
