Reduce Hunger and Women's Workloads in South Sudan
Rose Abalo
Abalo is 30 years old refugee Sudanese woman, and has three children who are still in school. She lives with her husband and children in a rented single room local house in Kakira – outskirt of Kampala, which is a popular poor place only for Sudanese refugees. Abalo earns income by running a local cosmetic corner by the roadside in her community. Abalo has been in this business for over 11 years now and currently needs a loan of $500 to buy cosmetics in bulk to increase the stock in her business
Esther Itee
She is a food vendor and services rice and stew. Her food is moderately priced and very tasty, so for this reason lots of people buy from her stand. She says demand for her food is good but does not have fund for expansion. She needs a loan of $250 project in her business to provide for her basic needs and to repay the loan.
Martina Acen
Acen is the leader of her lending group in Kakira zone. She is a hard-working lady with a business of selling yellow bananas, known as “bogoya”. She is surporting 12 dependant orphans without any economic support. She needs a loan of $250 to be able to buy more yellow bananas for resale to make money to educate her children, provide for basic needs and to repay the loan.
Josephine Achayo
Achayo is 50 years old, widow, and has a child who is still in primary school. She lives with her small boy in a rented single room apartment in Kibuli - outskirt of Kampala. Achayo, like many other Sudanese refugee women in Uganda gets no economic support. For the past 10 years, she has been doing low scale business in local brewery selling to end users. Currently, she needs a loan of $250 to procure bulk of dry fish and do retailing enterprise in order to pay for house rent, foods, and school
